What does the ring around Pokémon mean Pokemon go?

How does my buddy find presents?
Presents – While exploring with your buddy, your buddy may pick up consumable items like Berries and Potions and deliver them to you as presents. You’ll receive a notification when your buddy finds a present, and you can open the present while playing with them in AR mode.
